Light Bodies Resin Painting
An original painting using beeswax, resin, oil, hand collected poplar ash and cedar bark from Mt. St. Helens on cradled wood panel. Completed in 2018, the painting measures 11 x 14 x 1.5 inches and is hand signed by the artist on the back.
The layers of thick, glassy, luminescent color simply cannot be captured in a photograph. After a meticulous hand painting process, there are layers of resin, minerals, and pigments that I build up in layers to get iridescent, and light refractive properties.
"I am inspired by my love of the earth, cosmos, and its unfathomable myriad of interconnected and pulsing life. In this series of paintings, I am re-imagining a shifting landscape of terrain as the earth is rapidly changing, melting, and reforming. I look towards the beauty and possibility that presents as we adapt ourselves to it.
By strengthening and deepening our understanding of the natural world, and our connections within it, we can explore solutions to living more harmoniously within ourselves and our home." ~ Caylin Janet
